Newsletter 33- May 18

This week, we read the book Stellaluna by Janell Canon. The book explored the differences and similarities among some baby animals when a baby animal got lost and became friends with other ones. The children described how they would feel if they got lost and what they would do.

Together we charted the different types of baby animals. We discussed specific names of baby animals such as kittens, puppies, and cubs.

We have been exploring facts about birds. We listened to samples of different bird calls both wild and tame during circle time.

We created 3D bird eggs in the art center for a bird’s nest project. The children have used great creativity in making different bird pictures.

Next week, we will be continuing our study of the animal of their choosing.

Encourage your child to continue with his/her animal baby investigation with your help. You can do online research, read books or magazines about your child’s animal together at home, visit the library to look for more information about the animal baby, visit the zoo, pet store, etc. You can write or draw pictures about the information you gather together and return this information to class.
