Remote Weekly Letter 6.18.21

Hybrid Newsletter:

This week we discussed many things in nature that change or transform, including the weather and seasons, the metamorphosis of some insects, and animals that transform to camouflage themselves.  We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and compared this to non-fiction books about caterpillars and butterflies.

At the Art Center we created butterfly blots and looked at the symmetry of their wings.

At the Science Center we reviewed the transformation that occurs when ice melts into water. We used our science skills to uncover special treasure in blocks of ice!

We talked more about how the children have ‘transformed’ this year.

For our last week, we will continue to review our year in Pre-K through a series of challenges.

This week we brainstormed many things in nature that change or transform, including the weather and seasons, the metamorphosis of some insects, and animals that transform to camouflage themselves.

We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and compared this to non-fiction books about caterpillars and butterflies. We thought about the big changes that a caterpillar experiences during its lifecycle. Then, we imagined what we would look like if we were caterpillars and what kind of food we would eat! Our hungry caterpillars ate ice cream, pizza, blackberries, leaves, mangoes, cake, and many other delicious treats!

We talked more about how the children have ‘transformed’ this year.

For our last week, we will continue to review our year in Pre-K by revisiting some favorite stories, songs and activities!
