Weekly Letter May 3rd

I hope you all had a great weekend! Please read on to find out what class 1-2 will be doing this week…

Reading & Writing: This week students will be looking at what a sensory poem is. Sensory poems are an excellent way to encourage children to experiment with using words to describe their senses, and in doing so bring their writing to life for others. Students will write what they might see, taste, smell, hear, and feel during their favorite season.

Spelling: Students this week are learning about “ou” words that make the “ow” sound just like the words we learned last week. During our word work activities, we will be sorting words based on the letters that the word has. For example, the words flower and our, make the same sound, but have different letter patterns in the middle. This skill will take some time to understand.

Math: Today we completed the final lesson in chapter 10, which had students practice adding two digit numbers. Tomorrow we will complete the study guide and send it home in green folders. We will have a chapter test on Thursday.

Religion: This week students will be continuing with lesson 9. We will explore what is means to sin and the idea of forgiveness. Students will also learn about the sacraments Penance and Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.
